The Child and Family Clinic: Couples
Relationships can be hard work, and the stresses and strains of balancing work life, children and friendships can impact on the most close of relationships. Relationships also grow and change over time. Sometimes this can lead to conflict, misunderstanding or a more general feeling of not having one’s needs met by your partner.
My work with couples helps them to understand how and why they have got into the patterns of behaviour that are being unhelpful and explores new ways of relating together.
I have found that about six sessions, with some small homework tasks between sessions can really make a difference and bring life back to a tired/angry relationship.
My Background
I have four children and four step-children so I know that family life can be challenging.
I believe that good relationships are very important for the emotional wellbeing of all family members, and for the healthy development of children and teens.
When families work together, this can have a positive impact on everyone.
I also work with parents towards finding ways of co-parenting through separation and divorce so that children do not have to suffer from their parents’ differences.
